About Us...

Our Mission

We are a small communication company offering sound and practical materials to those affected with some aspect of mental illness.

Getting stabilized and well is no easy task after a breakdown or a setback. StayWell’s unique contribution is to present the patient’s perspective in light of a support team’s concerns. Self-help and appropriate support are encouraged in all of StayWell’s offerings.

Our first goal is to share constructive knowledge on how to live with a mental illness and to be at peace with one’s mind, body and spirit. Secondly, StayWell has a policy to promote only material that uses simple, clear and uplifting language. Lastly, but not least, we want to encourage information about basic recovery procedures in the hope that early intervention is possible for those vulnerable to a mental illness. So often early intervention is possible if those susceptible seek help without the fear of stigma. Good mental health is a lifelong process for all.

It is important to remember to stay well….

Resume of Jeffrey Conrad...

Appendix
To Whom It May Concern:

Mental Illness is a kind of disease that can be so debilitating that just to get out of bed can be a major achievement.

More often than not individuals with some form of a mental illness are confused and bewildered as to what is going on with them. Usually after a diagnosis is made of the patient's condition and symptoms, medication and rehabilitative procedures can be started. Much advancement has been made in these areas over the last few decades.

Yet what the patient and lay support team of family and friends also need and seek is an insider's viewpoint on what information and practices will help them to come to grips and learn how to cope more effectively with the particular symptoms being faced.

As we move into the 21st Century, lifestyle management that accepts strengths and encourages positive tools and ways toward inner wellness are being promoted along side more traditional therapy.

It is in this regard that StayWell Co. has been organized. Hopefully our modest contributions will help relieve some of the shame and helplessness that often go along with having a mental illness.

A Manual for Mental Wellness, written by Jeffrey Conrad, is a patient's view of what works and what helps when coping with a mental illness. It's written simply, directly and pragmatically, offering clear suggestions for a day by day approach to life. The Manual is in its 4th printing.

Recently, Conrad decided that it would be a useful manual to offer to a wider public, those who might suspect a friend or a relative is ill, or who might be coping with a form of mental illness.

Jeffrey maintains relationships with mental health professionals and takes medications - both are essential for his support toward a healthy lifestyle.

On the site you will find a short feature-style press release introducing the manual and additional information about it, including comments by people who value A Manual for Mental Wellness.

Author Jeffrey Conrad holds a B.A. in history from Bowdoin College, has been a board member of Compeer Inc., an organization that sends volunteers to spend time with the mentally ill. He is a member in good standing at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Camden, a member of The Center for Attitudinal Healing, started by Gerald Jampolsky, M.D., a member of the Maine Chapter of National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI-Maine), and a long standing member of Recovery, Inc. started by Abraham A. Low, M.D. Through all of the ups and downs of his illness, he continues to garden, sing, exercise, write, read and do needlepoint while living in midcoast Maine with his pet companion.

The press release was written by Donna Gold, who is a professional writer and publicist.

Thank you for your consideration and interest in the material. I have witnessed his personal journey, am proud of him, and feel his manual is very helpful to a broad readership.

Respectfully,

Rebecca Gene Conrad
